Tips for Sixth Graders

This year, I am in seventh grade, and I am doing really well in school. I understand if all the sixth graders here are scared and feel like they want to cry. I was like this too and it was EXTRA hard for me as I graduated from a Montessori school. As this is a science school, I had mainly failing grades by the end of the semester! But now that I know the lay of the land, I am a confident, happy, and smart young woman. If you want to know how to push through as I did, keep on reading. Introducing MSA’s Middle School Math League!

Hi, MSA! It has been about 6 weeks since the Middle School Math League kick-off, and we are off to a great start; we just had our first meet on the 16th of October and it was very successful. At the moment, we have kids from all middle school grades. We have kids from all different math classes and teachers. At the moment, our school has two teams – team A and team B; Team A has all 7th graders, and Team B has all 6th graders. We also have a replacement team if someone isn’t at the meet. This club is run by Mr. Shaack. If you don’t know him, he is the MS1 and MS2 math teacher.

Introducing Mr. Schaak!

“The students here really encompass the golden rule of treating others the way they want to be treated, and it’s really awesome to see.”

Our new math teacher here at MSA, Mr. Schaak, teaches middle school math one and two. This is his first year at MSA, and he loves the rigorous content that the school teaches and the student’s ability to want to work hard. His preferred pronouns are he/him/his.

Interview of Ms. Metcalf

Ms. Metcalf is a brilliant history teacher. Born in 1999, she was born in Saint Paul. She grew up in Cottage Grove. She went to the University of Wisconsin in River Falls, as well. The reason why she wanted to be a History teacher is because she had the coolest teachers in high school. Also, she loves that History is a circle. Her favorite subjects growing up were Geography and Art.
