Most traditional heroes have fallen out of style now, and I’m pretty sure just about all of us have created really edgy characters at some point. Most of our heroes are flawed and troubled in many ways, and the traditionally heroic hero is not as popular. But creating actually realistic characters that we can relate to is much harder than it seems these days.

Hello to all of you reading this! I truly welcome you all back to my game review series after the summer hiatus! It truly does feel nice to be back in the swing of things and writing again. To kick things off, my name is Logan Schlosser, and I am the Web Editor for the ASOP Student Newspaper. The articles I write for the student newspaper are usually all technology centered. Mary Sues and How to Fix Them

If you’ve ever written stories, then chances are that you made one of your characters a Mary Sue (or Gary Stew for masculine characters). As most people know it, a Mary Sue is a perfect character with no flaws, everyone likes them, and the world basically revolves around them. What people don’t realize is that Mary Sue is honestly a term that is thrown around quite loosely. There is no dictionary definition of a Mary Sue, but there are definitely defining characteristics of one.

Tips to Write a Song

Like many artistic pursuits, there’s no real right or wrong way to write a song. Each artist is different, and only telling you the way that I do it could be in the completely opposite order of what works best for you. Depending on whether you have a way with words, know how to encode double meanings and have the patience to come back to something, change it, hate it, and love different parts of it  every single day will determine whether you have the ability to write a song. The more critical you are on yourself and the more time and resources you have, the better.
