President Biden was elected on the promise that he would change the way things were run in America and combat COVID-19 and the economic crisis. He told Americans that he would vaccinate 100 million Americans by the end of his first 100 days. On his very first day in office he started by signing 17 different executive orders; these executive orders did many things including rejoining the Paris climate agreement and the World Health Organization, revoke the Keystone pipeline permit, and requiring social distancing and masks on federal property.
Since his first day in office Biden has accomplished much more, especially in relation to COVID-19. With executive orders he did many things such as invoke the Defense Protection Act to help with supply shortages. He also expanded testing and increased the access to COVID-19 treatments. He had an order giving guidance on reopening schools and had OSHA provide guidance on keeping workers safe from COVID-19. Another thing he did was require masks on transportation. President Biden has made clear that he would handle COVID-19 very differently than the previous administration.
Biden signed many orders not in relation to COVID-19. He stopped banning transgender people from serving in the military. He also created a task force that would help reunite families who have been separated at the border and stopped construction of the border wall. Biden also increased protection for LGBTQ people. To help low-income people, he increased food aid, extended the pause on student loan debt, and lowered barriers on Medicaid. All in all, Biden has changed a lot about how things are run in America.
