So you sports fans may have heard about the Twins basically trading their entire team, but why? It has been a bit since the trade deadline, but those trades are still affecting them to this day. One example is players like Jhoan Duran and Carlos Correa, who were costing way more than they were worth. Exacerbating this, their salaries were only going up, even though they were doing worse than they should have ever done in their career. For example, Joan Duran was losing speed and accuracy every year, and wasn’t worth an extra four million dollars for 5 years just to blow more and more saves. But there are still some players who may not have been worth it, such as Harrison Bader. He was a number five prospect in 2018 before he was drafted in the third round. That’s something that not every team gets. Another questionable trade is Griffin Jax, who was doing the opposite of Duran. He was only gaining speed and accuracy as we have been working with him for 4 years, and his contract was just 2 million dollars. So why? Now his contract only had 1 year left, and he did request a trade after everyone was gone, but was it still worth it. We got Taj Bradley in that trade and since we got him pitching he has an era of 4.61 in 111.1 innings, which isn’t terrible. He has given up 13 home runs , which is slightly more than preferred Here’s what’s good – 95 strikeouts, but he still gave up 57 runs in just 10 days. So was it worth it? No. Overall most of the Twins’ trades probably weren’t the smartest moves. Granted we got a lot of money back, but the real question is can they find players worth that money.
