Now is the time of the year when autumn adjourns, and we all want to postpone the start of winter. This time comes with the inevitable boredom and stir-crazy nature of the Minnesota winter. Undeniably, the fact is that we will all be spending a lot more time indoors. It is now the perfect time to try out some warm winter desserts.

With the last fresh fall apples in the grocery stores, it is the ideal time to make a warm apple crisp. Apple crisps are the perfect way to savor the flavors of seasonal fall apples. This Old Fashioned Easy Apple Crisp recipe from the Chunky Chef is her take on her mother’s apple crisp. She recommends you use golden-delicious apples, plenty of oat topping, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and salted caramel sauce.

What dessert is more festive for winter than a homemade pie, specifically, a pecan pie? Now, making a pie from scratch might sound daunting. Don’t worry; I have the perfect recipe for you. The Pioneer Woman, also known as Ree Drummon, has a simple and easy-to-follow pecan pie recipe. For the best results, she suggests you use crushed pecans instead of pecan halves. If you end up with a soupy pie, Ree’s solution is to jiggle your pie before you remove it from the oven. She states, “If it’s very jiggly, pop it back in the oven for 20 minutes or so until it’s set”. Click here for the full recipe:

While this last recipe isn’t a dessert, it is just as sweet and delicious as the rest. Sally’s Baking Addiction has the perfect “Easy Cinnamon Rolls From Scratch” recipe. Sally describes her cinnamon rolls as having all the flavors as overnight rolls but with half the time needed. This recipe is perfect if you want to remake the rolls and freeze them for later. However, it requires yeast to get what Sally calls the “Fluffiness Factor”. It only requires one 60-90 minutes to rise, unlike overnight cinnamon rolls.
