Fun Fact Poem

A mildly bothersome pestilence

troubled the township of Doune with malevolence.

Everyone bid it go away,

but to their dismay

the flies then replied with true petulance:

“No matter whatever you do

this statement will always be true:

Wherever you flee

from the presence of me

we’ll already be there just to torment you.”

And indeed, though this concept may come as a fright

these ubiquitous flies were entirely right:

Despite dire straits so preponderant,

a fly can be found on each continent—

not even the cold of Antarctica shields from its bite.
