Blue-Ringed Octopus

The blue-ringed octopus is made up of two main colors. Those two colors are yellow and blue. The blue-ringed octopus gets its name from the rings that spread across its whole body. Those rings only appear when they feel threatened. Most octopuses, squids, and cuttlefish are venomous, but the blue-ringed octopus is in a  different league of its own. Their venom is 1,000 times more deadly than cyanide.

Blue-ringed octopuses are native to the Pacific Ocean. They can be found in shallow tide pools and coral reefs. When they are not hunting for food or looking for a mate, they like to hide in shells and marine debris. Blue-ringed octopuses like to hunt for crabs, shrimp, and small fish. They use their beak to insert venom into their prey to paralyze them. If you ever encounter one, it’s best to back away from them.
