When it comes to COVID-19, cases are climbing everyday. To get a better understanding it is often helpful to take a closer look. This article is about the explosion of cases in Wisconsin, and how Wisconsin is an example of a phenomenon happening all over the US. Medical experts have told us numerous times that we can get this under control by simple behavior shifts; however, these shifts have yet to happen. In Wisconsin, pizza delivery person, Kevin Kopplin, only saw one person wearing a mask to pick up pizza in nine months. Hospitals are about to overflow, and still people travel about their communities as much as they did before COVID-19.

The current spike is comparable to that of New York City in spring.“To put these new data in perspective, Wisconsin is now seeing more average cases per day than New York City did at the peak of its surge last spring,” DHS Deputy Secretary Van Dijk said. People have shown an unwillingness to change their behavior, even to save lives. However, this behavior isn’t unique to Wisconsin. We can see similar events happening all over the US. Things with COVID-19 are not over yet. Cases are still climbing. Thanks for reading!
